Lunch & Learn: When Grief Shakes Faith
This session will explore the concept of spiritual wounding and how grief can disrupt beliefs that once offered comfort and meaning. Participants will learn how loss may lead to spiritual questioning, a crisis of faith, or a deepening of spiritual connection, and how these experiences shape grief journeys. The workshop offers trauma-informed strategies to support individuals as they navigate spiritual pain, meaning-making, and resilience after loss.
Learning Objectives:
- Define spiritual wounding and describe how grief can challenge or disrupt previously held beliefs and sources of meaning.
- Recognize common spiritual reactions to loss, including crisis of faith, anger, doubt, and opportunities for spiritual growth.
- Discuss how spiritual struggles interact with emotional grief responses and influence coping and meaning-making.
- Identify trauma-informed strategies to support individuals experiencing spiritual pain, such as validating uncertainty, cultivating safe spaces for expression, and encouraging personal rituals or practices.
