Elementary School Grief Support Group

Child / Elementary School Group (Ages 4-10)
Our child groups provide a safe and nurturing space for young children to process their grief through age-appropriate activities, play, art, and storytelling. Facilitators help children express their emotions, develop coping skills, and find comfort in connecting with peers who have also experienced loss. These groups are held Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM EST.

Grief can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be experienced alone. Join us for Grief in Community: A Conversation About Grief, Loss & Connection, a FREE community event for adults ages 21+, on Monday, August 31 at 6 p.m. at The Children’s Village at Lotus Village.

Presented in partnership with We Met in Miami, Miami Sound Space, and Lift From Loss, this special evening will feature soothing sound healing with the Miami Sound Space Threshold Singers, meaningful small-group conversations about grief and loss, and opportunities to connect with others through shared experiences.

Come as you are, share as much or as little as you’d like, and experience the comfort and connection that can come from music, conversation, and community.

This event is for adults ages 21 and older. Free pizza will be available while supplies last.

ABOUT THE HOSTS

We Met Community Connection is a nonprofit creating spaces for adults 21+ to find love, friendship, and community through shared interests and values. Thousands of attendees have participated in curated, facilitated experiences designed to spark meaningful connections since 2024. Now with two chapters: We Met in Miami and We Met in Broward.

Miami Sound Space is a nonprofit community choir collective dedicated to fostering community care through the power of collective singing and inclusive music experiences. Founded in 2019, the organization operates four vocal programs: Miami Sound Choir, an adult community choir; The Bluebirds, a men's choir at Everglades Correctional Institution; Threshold Singers, a small group providing healing and comfort during end-of-life care; and Lullaby & Life, a parent-and-baby choir.

Lift From Loss® is a free program from the Children's Bereavement Center offering weekly evening peer support groups led by mental health professionals for adults 18+ experiencing personal loss or supporting a grieving child. Specialized offerings include groups in Spanish and Haitian Creole, as well as those focusing on perinatal loss, infant loss, child loss and pet loss.

Adult English Grief Support Group

Our groups support adults navigating the loss of a loved one, whether it be a spouse, parent, sibling, or close friend. Sessions focus on emotional processing, self-care, and finding ways to honor and remember their loved ones while adapting to life after loss. These groups are held Mondays - Wednesdays from 7:00 PM- 8:30 PM EST in English.

Adult Groups are also available in Spanish on Wednesdays and in Haitian Creole on Thursdays from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM.

Middle School Grief Support Group

Middle School Group (Ages 11-13)
Designed for preteens navigating grief and the emotional and social changes of adolescence, this group offers a supportive environment where adolescents can share their experiences, develop coping strategies, and explore their emotions through discussion, creative expression, and interactive activities. It is held on Mondays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST.

Child Loss Adult English Grief Support Group

A support group for parents who have lost a child of any age, this space acknowledges the profound and unique grief of losing a son or daughter. Participants find solace in connecting with others who understand this deep loss, offering mutual support and coping strategies. These groups are held Mondays from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EST and available in Spanish on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:30 PM EST.

Temple Judea’s Bereavement Support Group offers a space for comfort, connection, and healing after loss. Join us for an encouraging and compassionate program designed to build resilience and hope.

Meets Every Tuesday in person at Temple Judea from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

High School Grief Support Groups

High School Group (Ages 14-17)
Teens experiencing grief often face unique challenges as they juggle school, friendships, and identity development. This group provides a safe space for open discussions, peer connection, and exploring complex emotions related to their loss, helping them develop resilience and a sense of community. It meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST.

Perinatal & Infant Loss Grief Support Group

This group is dedicated to parents and caregivers who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infancy. The group provides a compassionate and understanding space to share experiences, process grief, and receive support from others who have endured similar losses. These groups are held in English on Tuesdays from 7:00 PM- 8:30 PM EST and are also available in Spanish on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM EST.

- Meet consistently every Wednesday from 6:30 - 7:30 PM (Pizza at 6:00 PM)
- Groups are currently available at this location for Elementary School Groups (Kindergarten through 5th grade) and Adults in English
- All peer grief support groups are FREE
- Groups are co-facilitated by mental health professionals & trained volunteers
- Activities include music and art therapy & candle lighting ceremonies
- Participants decide how long they wish to attend group
- Open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one as a result of illness, accident, suicide or homicide
- Groups welcome all those touched by the loss of a loved one and are non-denominational, culturally diverse and welcoming of all identities
- More groups are available at other locations and online

DIRECTIONS:
Set GPS to navigate to Lotus House: 217 NW 15th Street, Miami, FL 33136 as the Children's Village address is a newer building and some GPS and mapping platforms may not provide accurate directions.

SECURITY & PRE-REGISTRATION:
Participants must pre-register for all CBC grief support groups. Allow time to arrive early and go through the security check-in at the lobby of the Children's Village.

Pet Loss Support Group

The loss of a beloved pet can be deeply painful. Pets are family, companions and sources of unconditional love. When they die, the grief can feel overwhelming - and often misunderstood by others. Pet Loss Support Group is a compassionate place for adults mourning a pet. It provides a safe space to share, listen and honor your bond. You don't have to face this alone.

Meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, registration is required.

Steps for Healing 5K - www.stepsforhealing.org - SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, November 7, 2026
Open for all ages, Steps is held every year in November at Zoo Miami.  Those who run or walk do so by creating a team with friends, family members or colleagues or register as an individual.  It's a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community with loved ones and remember those lost by running in their honor or memory - at a fun venue.  

Lunch & Learn & Conversations with CBC 
Children's Bereavement Center's Lunch & Learn at Home Series is offered FREE for mental health and community professionals.  Each session offers virtual grief education, training, resources and Q&A with a presentation from a renowned expert speaker.  CBC is proud to be a leader in the community on grief providing tools to help children and families after a death.
